Pesticide Ecological Risk Assessment

Intrinsik’s pesticides division has decades of experience conducting a wide variety of ecological risk assessments (ERAs).  We regularly conduct ERAs for pesticide registrations and re-registrations in the United States, Canada, and South America.  These ERAs range from standard screening-level risk assessments performed using EPA’s toolbox of screening-level models to complex, highly refined risk assessments.  We are capable of developing species-specific, pesticide-specific, and location-specific models to best estimate the potential for exposure and subsequent risk estimates, and work closely with our valued partner Stone Environmental Inc., to bring you a comprehensive evaluation solution.  We also provide services for pesticide dossier preparation and submission.

  • Step 1 Screening level risk assessments
  • Critical habitat risk assessments
  • Step 2 Refined exposure and effects assessments
  • Conduct field studies following Good Laboratory Practice (Maine office)
  • Probabilistic modelling
  • Species-specific exposure models
  • Weight-of-evidence assessments
  • Response and rebuttal documents

Intrinsik’s Experience:

  • Development of refined avian and mammalian exposure models specific to seed-treated, granular and liquid pesticides
  • Determination of aquatic benchmarks for imidacloprid and atrazine in the United States based on analyses of mesocosm study data
  • Refined effects determinations for terrestrial and aquatic lifestages of the California red-legged frog
  • Refined aquatic exposure modelling and effects determinations
  • National endangered species assessments for the organophosphates
  • Maine office currently serving as Study Director for two GLP field studies
