Gillian Manning is an Environmental Risk Assessor with Intrinsik Corp. with a strong background in ecotoxicology and molecular biology. Since joining Intrinsik in 2012, she has contributed to numerous ecological risk assessments and endangered species assessments conducted for pesticides undergoing re-registration in the United States and Canada. Gillian has also participated in the development of adverse outcome pathways (AOPs) linking activation of the aryl hydrocarbon receptor to uroporphyria and embryolethality, which are currently available for comment on the OECD’s AOPwiki.

Experience Highlights

  • Extensive experience using the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s standard pesticide models (e.g. T-REX, T-HERPS, and TerrPlant) and probabilistic aquatic and terrestrial exposure models developed by Intrinsik to assess the risk of pesticides to non-target organisms.
  • Development and application of evaluation criteria to assess the quality of laboratory toxicity, mesocosm/microcosm, and bioaccumulation studies.
  • Experience summarizing surface water monitoring data and analyzing trends in contaminant concentrations.

  • M.Sc. Biology with Specialization in Chemical and Environmental Toxicology, University of Ottawa
  • B.Sc. Honours with Specialization in Biology (CO-OP), Minor in Chemistry, University of Ottawa
