Chris Bacigalupo is a Senior Environmental Health Scientist with Intrinsik Corp.  He brings over 20 years of experience in the field environmental risk assessment and toxicology, specializing in human health related issues.  Since 1996, Chris has been providing technical scientific support and advice to private and government sector clients throughout Canada and abroad in the areas of human health risk assessment.

Chris has considerable experience completing and managing human health risk assessments concerning a wide range of issues from contaminated sites, point source air emissions, and consumer products. Chris also provides expert toxicology services and peer-reviews for clients concerning the development of human health-based air and soil quality standards.

Experience Highlights

  • Conducted, managed, reviewed, and participated in hundreds of human health risk assessments concerning a wide range of issues related to contaminated sites, air emissions from a variety of industrial sources (e.g., landfills, incineration, smelting operations, energy production, etc.).
  • Development risk assessment approaches and quantitative exposure/risk models for a number of large scale and complex risk assessments within Canada and abroad, including the HHRA for the City of Greater Sudbury, the Toxicological Risk Assessment of Historical Herbicide use at CFB Gagetown, the HHRA of metals in La Oroya, Peru, and the HHRA of metals in Deloro Village, ON.
  • Litigation support by providing toxicological advice, research, scientific reviews, and expert opinions/reports concerning human health-related issues.
  • Provided on-going expert toxicology services for industrial-sector clients concerning the development of effects-based air quality standards.

Education and Professional Qualifications

  • M.Sc., Toxicology and Land Resource Sciences, University of Guelph
  • H.B.Sc., Environmental Science and Biology Minor, University of Waterloo
  • QEP, Qualified Environmental Professional accredited by the Institute of Professional Environmental Practice (IPEP) in 2002
  • QP – Qualified Person for certifying Tier 3 Endpoints Corrective Action Plans as required by the Saskatchewan Environmental Code
  • Qualified Person – Risk Assessment (QPRA) according to the Environmental Protection Act of Ontario
